Watching The tempest on Matiu Somes Island

As in Will Shakespeare's The tempest. 'Twas a slightly miz night: low cloud, a bit drizzly, but not cold. We went into town on the train and had the added bonus of mingling with the 7's crowd. This is Wellington's annual international seven-a-side rugby tournament that is a great excuse for dress ups. We were looking pretty ordinary in our jeans and rain jackets, let me tell you.
Not sure what is passing outside, but Mish is enjoying her wine.

Watching the rugby in the bar were several superheroes, two mod rockers, several camouflage guys,
a dozen jarmy army guys, and a couple of stars and stripes
The waterfront was jumping. We had a drink in a thumping bar, where some were actually watching the rugby. Then we decamped to a little ferry for a peaceful 20 minute ride through the harbour mist and onto Matiu Somes, with the actors and the entire audience. Different.

Matiu (pro. mat-choo) Somes was an animal quarantine station and few other things over the years, and it's now being regenerated. We walked up a hill - past a beautiful blue Ariel being sprite-like in a tree - and watched the first part of the play in a long, low building. Then we all walked to another tiny building and sat around the actors as they fell about skilfully.

Glad we went to the play last night as it was atmospheric enough to be contextually interesting, and tonight is awful. Gusty, wet, and we've got the heater on! Summer.

PS. New Zealand won. We're good at rugby.

A Mario brother impersonator. He just wanted to have a chat and walk with them.
